Cheers To The End Of An Amazing School Year Full Of Excitement And Celebration!

As you may already know, this year has marked a significant anniversary for The Adaptive Learning Center. Since 1982, we have been the only program in Georgia that enables children with special needs to attend preschool with their typical peers. These past 35 years have been filled with significant milestones and it is my great pleasure to share some of the highlights of this past school year with you!

We finished the year strong with 47 students enrolled at 9 different preschools around the city of Atlanta. To experience this program in action is truly a site to see as the children interact together in a kind and empathetic manner of acceptance and joy! The overall impact on the entire classroom is evident by the smiles on the children’s faces as they learn and play together. We are overjoyed to share that 82% of the ALC students have met 80% of their goals for this past school year!

Thanks to the support of generous donors, like the Harland Foundation, the Glenn Family Foundation, the Hopkins Family Foundation, and Subaru of America, ALC’s impact has reached the children of Our House, an organization that serves preschool children experiencing homelessness. We are thrilled to share that this partnership will continue for another three years thanks to the Goizueta Foundation and will include both of Our House’s locations.

We are also excited to share that we have a new partner school, for the 2017-2018 school year, and hope that you will join me in welcoming Mount Zion United Methodist Preschool in Cobb County to our ALC family!

As you know, we could not continue the amazing work that we do without the support of generous donors who are as passionate about inclusion as we are. We would like to thank Stivers Subaru who graciously supports ALC through its ‘Share the Love’ campaign and donated $78,000 to ALC this year!

In addition, ALC is thankful to Peter’s Pals who have selected ALC as one of three recipients of the funds raised from the annual ‘Pound the Pavement for Peter’ family fun run. Programs like these enable ALC to expand our reach into additional schools and to ensure that we continue the exceptional service that our families expect.

Now that the school year has come to an end, we are excited for summer camps, which kicks off next week and will continue over the next two months. Before we know it, football season will be back, and we will be ready to start another great year with our fantastic partnering preschools.

Thank you to all that have supported ALC this year with time and treasure so that we can continue to serve the Atlanta community and to help our children get the support they need during these precious preschool years.

As you well know, ALC can make all the difference for a child with special needs’ kindergarten experience and we are excited to see all that our children achieve in the years ahead.

Have a great summer and as always, please reach out to me if there is anything at all that I can do for you!
