The Adaptive Learning Center Kicks Off 40 Day Campaign!
Wednesday, November 8, 2017
The Adaptive Learning Center (ALC) provides one-of-a-kind Inclusion Education to children with unique educational needs. Our students receive focused, individualized care from specially trained Inclusion Specialists who bring the Inclusion model into our partner preschools. This model is specifically target towards children who might otherwise not be able to attend traditional schools or benefit from early education like their peers.
By contributing to The Adaptive Learning Center, you are giving these kids something invaluable: the opportunity to receive an inclusive education that sets them up for successful education. Without your help, many of these students would be trailing far behind their peers, likely overlooked and underserved at their schools.
We’d like to share the story of a student we were able to serve, thanks to our generous supporters like you. Denarius, experiencing homelessness with his mother, was struggling in Pre-K, as his aggressive behaviors were preventing him from focusing and learning in class. ALC provided an Inclusion Specialist in Denarius’ class. The teacher worked patiently and tirelessly with Denarius, teaching him coping skills to address his aggressive outbursts, and encouraging him to develop a sharper focus in school.
Thanks to this targeted and early intervention, Denarius was able to start Kindergarten on schedule, where his behavioral and learning difficulties were distant memories. In fact, his teacher assessed his reading skills to be well ahead of many of his peers. He was reading at a second-grade level!
This season, we are hoping to expand the number of children experiencing homelessness who receive our special services by raising $40,000 in 40 days.
Thank you for believing in ALC and the children we serve.
