ALC Leadership
Kristin Tanner holds a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from North Carolina A&T State University, followed by a Master’s degree in School Counseling. Throughout her diverse career in education, she has taken on multiple roles, including 3 years as a classroom teacher, 7 years as a school counselor, and 2 years working in clinical counseling. Over the years, she has also received specialized training in Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and the most effective strategies for Preschool Inclusion.
Kristin’s passion for inclusive education led her to spend a year as an Inclusion Consultant, where she gained valuable hands-on experience working with teachers, families, and students. In June 2024, she embraced a new and exciting role as Program Coordinator for the Adaptive Learning Center (ALC). In this position, she is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day planning and implementation of the preschool inclusion program, ensuring that all children, regardless of their abilities, receive the support they need to thrive in their learning environments. Kristin is eager to bring her knowledge, enthusiasm, and commitment to making a meaningful impact in this leadership role.
Charles joined ALC in March of 2010. Charles’ background spans both the corporate and non-profit communities as well as having a personal connection to ALC.His business background includes banking, insurance and packaging. He has co-chaired the Annual Fund for Holy Innocents Episcopal School; served on Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta’s Board of Directors for its Annual Fund and was a loaned executive for the United Way.
On a personal note, Charles is an ALC alumni parent. His son, Charlie was in ALC’s first Inclusion Program at Shirley Blumenthal Park from 1998 through 2001.
Charles has a passion for the ALC mission and certainly knows first hand what ALC means to the community.
Susan brings over 30 years of invaluable experience in medical and educational business operations, paired with a strong academic background. She holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing and a master’s degree in human resources, both from Kennesaw State University.
As ALC’s Office Manager, Susan plays a vital role in supporting families and staff, ensuring their experience is seamless and positive throughout their time with the organization. Since joining ALC in 2003, Susan has been instrumental in the organization’s growth, contributing to the expansion of its private preschool model from just two programs to an impressive nine.
Her dedication and expertise have been a cornerstone of ALC’s success, and she is thrilled to be part of its exciting future as the organization transitions to the inclusion consultant model. Susan’s commitment to fostering a supportive and innovative environment continues to make a lasting impact on the ALC community.
